What is proposed: The proposal sets out that the Danish Parliament (Folketinget) gives consent for the government to enter into the agreement of 22 September 2026 with the United States. The agreement amends and supplements the defence agreement on Greenland.
Who would be affected: The agreement is entered into between the Danish government together with Naalakkersuisut and the United States government. It does not apply to the Faroe Islands.
When: The proposal has not been adopted yet. A proposal for a parliamentary resolution is not an act and does not change the rules by itself. If the Danish Parliament adopts it, it is usually a call on the government to act.
