Forslaget bygger på anbefalinger fra en taskforce, der har arbejdet på at forbedre administrationen af SU-handicaptillæg. Uddannelses- og forskningsministeren får med lovforslaget bemyndigelse til at fastsætte regler for dokumentationskrav til ansøgning om SU-handicaptillæg, regler for afvisning af ansøgning ved manglende dokumentation og regler om, fra hvilket tidspunkt SU-handicaptillæg kan modtages. Uddannelses- og forskningsministeren får også bemyndigelse til at fastsætte regler om anvendelse af kunstig intelligens eller lignende digitale løsninger i sagsbehandlingen m.v. Ændringerne forventes at forkorte sagsbehandlingstiden og gavne de uddannelsessøgende. Loven træder i kraft den 1. juli 2025.
